Indonesia is currently the fourth largest producer of coffee in the world. This special coffee comes from the Gayo highlands in Central Aceh, where the crop is organically grown without fertilisers and is widely known as “green beans” for being environmentally friendly.
The Gayo coffee we supply is grown around an area names Takengon, on the slopes of shaded mountains.
Processing Method:
Semi washed coffee. Cherries are picked in the late afternoon and pulped with manual pulpers. Each farm has on average around 1000 trees which are elevated around 1200-1400m above sea level. Rainfall in the local area is between 1.5 - 2m per annum.
Cup Notes:
Sweet fragrance of green, caramel, bittersweet cup, great chocolate notes, light earthy notes balanced with heavy body, very intense creamy body, spice and sweetness combined, some elegant fruit notes.
