Turmeric… need we write a description for this guy? Well, for those of you who are new to the world of turmeric, let us just say, this spice could very well be crowned the king of all spices!

Flavour-wise, it is overwhelmingly earthy and bitter, almost musky, with a bit of peppery spice. That deep, kind of implacable flavour in most curry powders? Yep.. that's turmeric. It has a warm, pungent bitter taste and is frequently used to flavour or colour curry powders, mustards, butters, and cheeses. We find it best pairs with other strong, warm spices with complimentary flavour profiles like cinnamon, black pepper and ginger. Can you really call it a curry if it doesn’t contain turmeric?

If you’re not into cooking, that’s fine! Turmeric can still become your best friend. It’s great when applied topically to the skin as it acts as an anti-inflammatory so why not mix it in with some greek yoghurt and whack it on the face.
