Onion flakes are simply dehydrated, chopped or sliced.. onions! Onion flakes can be used to replace fresh onion in soups, stews and other cooked foods and make a great emergency pantry staple. Honestly.. they can be added to any dish that calls for fresh onions!
A tip - If you’re going to fry them, try soaking them for a couple of minutes prior. Either that or stay by the pan whilst frying on low heat as they tend to cook a lot faster than fresh onions being fried.
Adding them to a garlic bread recipe is one of our favourites!
