Galangal powder is dried, ground galangal root, a spice which is native to Souther Asia. It is a close cousin of the ginger family and is used in Thai, Malaysian, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Laotian and Cambodian cooking. Galangal Powder is highly aromatic and has a sharp, spicy and slightly peppery taste to it.
Galangal contains various essential oils as eugenol, methyl cinnamate and galangol responsible for its many health benefits. It helps to treat nausea, indigestion and gastritis. It has antibacterial and analgesic properties.
