Jasmine rice is a long grain varietal that is perfect in southeast Asian style dishes. It is often used in stir fry’s and curries as the natural fragrance compliments many spices.
This grain will be slightly sticky but still fluffy. It’s separating qualities and fragrance make it a great choice for a wide variety of fried rice, stir fry and curry recipes.
Jasmine rice is known for its delicious fragrance. Use this rice to create a dish that evokes the sights and sounds of Southeast Asia, from the street vendors of Bangkok to Saigon.
And of course Jasmin Rice is Gluten Free
You will need 1 and 1/4 cups of water for each cup of rice.
Jasmin Rice is a softer grain than most other rices so it requires less liquid to become soft. You can rinse the rice but it is not absolutely required. If you do rinse the rice reduce the liquid component by 2 tablespoons.
Once you have the liquid situation sorted put the water and rice in a saucepan and bring to a rippling simmer on high heat as quick as you can.
Once you have got to this point you should see some foam appearing at the edge, you then cover and cook on reduced heat for 12 minutes without removing the cover.
Following this remove from the heat and allow the rice to stand for ten minutes before fluffing with a spatula and serving.
