What are blanched peanuts you ask? Well, to save you sitting there scratching your head any longer.. allow us to enlighten you with some peanut anatomy. A blanched peanut is when the outer shell had been removed and the peanut is placed in hot water for roughly 3 minutes so that the redskin is able to be removed. Once the redskin is off, you have yourself a blanched peanut! Voila! Blanching the peanut improves its colour by transforming it to solid white, while also destroying its anti-nutritional factors making them easier to digest.

Blanched peanuts have a slightly soft texture and no shells which makes them great to garnish salads or soups. They are also great for any DIY roasting, cooking, baking, and especially good for making peanut butter with. Mix them with other nuts and dried fruit for a healthy homemade trail mix.

Peanuts are rich in nutrients and provide a good source of fibre, magnesium, vitamin E, foliate and protein. They also have a good amount of unsaturated fats, niacin and antioxidants. Try them today!
