Almonds in shell are just plain almonds exactly as they come, in their hard shell. They are about 50% bigger than an almond kernel and require a nutcracker to crack open.. or if you are without, and are careful, try using a hammer but be sure to be gentle or you’ll end up with a crushed almost rather than the kernel itself!
These guys are perfect for snacking on, great for when you’re putting together a gift or a pretty addition for a platter when entertaining. We hear that birds love them too so if you have some flying friends in the neighbourhood, don’t be shy to leave a handful out for them to play around with. It’s rather impressive and very entertaining watching them pull apart the shell to get to the kernel.
