Almond meal is made from ground almonds, with a coarser texture than almond flour as it contains the skin of the almonds when ground up. It’s perfect for recipes that call for the use of gluten free and paleo diet cooking.
It’s commonly used for baked goods like cookies and quick breads, and because of the coarse texture it can be used as a substitute for breadcrumbs for coating meat and topping vegetables and casseroles.
Here’s a list of things we suggest trying out with our top quality almond meal: pancakes, scones, almond and orange cake (our personal favourite), brownies, lemon and poppy seed muffins. The list goes on!
If we’re being honest here, we sometimes prefer using our almond meal as a substitute for flour even when the recipe doesn’t call for it. It adds texture to the dish and leaves us feeling less lethargic. But shh! Don't you go telling all those gluten lovers out there!
