Cannellini beans are the largest of the group and because of their traditional kidney shape, they can also be referred to as White Kidney Beans. Meatier than Navy or Great Northern beans, they have a nutty, earthy flavour and tender flesh.
These creamy white beans are perfect in soups, stews and salads. Add to vegetable soups, including the classic Italian minestrone; mix with tinned tuna, French beans, red onion, a little grated parmesan and dress with olive oil and lemon juice for a salad; or stew with sage, garlic and tomatoes for a winter casserole.
Cannellini beans are fat-free and an excellent source of iron, folate and magnesium so you know you’re doing a good thing for your body when you include them in your meal.
